Parent Council Meeting – 2 February 2016

The next meeting of the Kinlochbervie High School Parent Council will be held on Tuesday 2 February 2016 at 7:30 pm in the high school.  This is a rescheduled from last week. Meetings are quite informal and all parents are encouraged to attend.  The Parent council would like all parents to feel involved with the school and in supporting the school to be the best it can be.

Goblin Car Project

Every year the high school and associated primary schools run the Goblin Racing Car project.  P7-S2 pupils build a battery-powered racing car over several weeks and then race it in a Scottish rally in June.  The first session this year is on Tuesday 26 January 2016.

Job Vacancy – Sessional Youth Worker – 4 posts

There are 2 posts available for sessional youth workers – 2 in Kinlochbervie and 2 in Scourie.  The pay rate is £9.14 per hour and the hours are to be discussed but will include evenings and weekends.

Sessional Youth Worker

The youth workers will run youth clubs and youth activities and should have experience of working with young people.  The opportunity for training will be provided.

Maths/Physics Post

A suitable candidate has been interviewed for this post and an application has been submitted for registration to the General Teaching Council for Scotland.  GTC registration is a requirement for anyone who teaches in Scotland.

Fundraising

There were several fundraising initiatives in December:

  • Christmas Jumper Day raised £62.70 for the ITV Text Santa campaign which in 2015 supported MacMillan Cancer Support, Make-A-Wish UK and Save the Children.
  • The Christmas Concert raised £239.00 from the raffle and donations at the door for school funds.
  • Over 100 items were donated to the S3 campaign to collect toys and gifts for refugee children; these were delivered to NW Highlands for Humans for distribution.
