Two of our pupils have been selected to participate in a trip sponsored by the Scottish Government to commemorate the Battle of Arras (World War I). The trip will take place in April 2017 and will mark the centenary of the battle.
The Battle of Arras was a British offensive in April 1917. Forty-four Scottish battalions and seven Scottish-named Canadian battalions made up the largest concentration of Scots to have fought together during WWI. Tragically, one-third of the 159,000 British Force casualties were Scottish.
The Scottish Government is sending a group of S3 pupils to be part of the Centenary Commemoration of the Battle next April.
The school is extremely pleased that two of our pupils, Dylan Morrison and Kian MacKay have been chosen to be part of this select group. Not only will Dylan and Kian be excellent ambassadors for our school but the whole school will benefit by gaining a deeper insight to this human tragedy when Dylan and Kian share their experiences after the trip.
